Many were happy to renew the personal contacts they had missed for a long time. The atmos- phere at the world's largest PLM event was corre- spondingly cheerful. More than 500 people came together at the ICS in Stuttgart to learn about the latest developments in Digital Transformation, Digital Twin, Internet of Things (IoT), Industry 4.0, Model-Based Systems Engineering, etc. and to network intensively. The motto of the symposium was “Innovations for Sys- tems Creation,“ which was intended to emphasize the importance of digital innovations for the design of smart, software-heavy systems. Over the two days, 46 keynotes and presentations by more than 100 speakers provided a comprehensive overview of the industry's current topics, which were further explored through five workshops on topics such as automating simulation with AI, better integration of software devel- opment, cross-system data linking, advances in sys- tems engineering, growing need for digital twins, modernizing PLM landscapes, GAIA-X or sustainability. Successful digitization initiatives were presented by many user companies from industries “beyond auto- motive“. In the accompanying exhibition, 30 software manufac- turers and service providers presented their products and solutions, including many newcomers. The ICS foyer was almost entirely occupied. The main sponsors of the symposium were PLM/IoT provider CONTACT Software and automation manu- facturer Mitsubishi Electric. In 2023, the prostep ivip Association celebrates its 30th anniversary as a leading partner for industrial digital transformation in the manufacturing industry. We will celebrate this important milestone with excit- ing insights, inspiring discussions and valuable con- tacts at the 26th prostep ivip Symposium on May 03 and 04 at the ICS Stuttgart. The car manufacturer emphasized the strategic importance of JT and open standards for data-driven companies. Around 90 participants from user companies and ven- dors joined the event. The event provided information about the 3D process format JT, which has been the ISO standard since 2012. In 2022, work began on the adoption of version 3 of ISO standard JT 14306, which should provide a nor- mative basis for the JT 10 specification and numerous new use cases. The objective of the effort is to link JT with STEP AP242 XML and establish it as a process format for the digital enterprise. One of the use cases enabled by the combination of JT and STEP AP242 is the implementation of kinematic mechanisms in a virtual machine model. It is driven to a large extent by Audi and is now supported by six vendors. At Mercedes-Benz, JT is the leading format for downstream processes. The company showed in Ingolstadt how JT can be used for the initial sampling of purchased parts. Robert Bosch has now also taken the DIN SPEC on the road and uses JT 10.5 as a format for collaboration with various OEMs. Volkswagen has been using the format for many years, and optimizes the different process JTs using artificial intelligence techniques. A good overview of the wide range of JT-based sol- utions and the supported use cases was given by the short presentations of the software and system houses exhibiting in Ingolstadt: SSC-Services, Threedy, Core Technology Group, :em engineering methods, TECH- NIA, invenio Virtual Technologies, Elysium, and Siemens Digital Industries Software. Participants at this year's JT Day brought home a variety of ideas for potential JT application areas. The JT project groups cordially invite you to contribute your company's individual requirements to the work of the various project groups and look forward to hearing from you. Mark your calendars: The next JT Day will take place on 24 October 2023 at SCHAEFFLER in Herzogenaur- ach. Participation is free of charge. We look forward to your registration!
